LowCountry Alliance for Healthy Youth Awarded Funds From 100 Men & Women Who Care
LowCountry Alliance for Healthy Youth (LCAHY) Program Director and Youth Coordinator presented to 100 Men and 100 Women Hilton Head during their Quarterly Meeting at Sea Pines Country Club. LowCountry Alliance for Healthy Youth Chosen as HH Market's Non-Profit of the Month
The LowCountry Alliance for Healthy Youth (LCAHY) was chosen as the Hilton Head Market’s Non-Profit of the month. HH Market’s Non-Profit of the Month receives an $800 donation in exchange for staffing a table during the market. LCAHY staffed an information table at the Hilton Head Market three Saturdays in March to create awareness for the coalition and its prevention resources. LowCountry Alliance for Healthy Youth Receives Grant from Bluffton Rotary
The LowCountry Alliance for Healthy Youth (LCAHY) received a grant from the Bluffton Rotary Charitable Giving to support its youth coalition, Teens for Healthy Youth (THY). The grant fund in the amount of $2,500 will be used for printing prevention materials made by Teens for Healthy Youth Members for youth. The Director of the Multilingual Learner Program of Beaufort County School District, Diana Dromsky, presented a cultural competency information session to LowCountry Alliance for Healthy Youth (LCAHY) Board Members during the November Community Board Meeting. Dromsky’s presentation provided an overview of multilingual learners (MLLs) in Southern Beaufort County. She shared data on the demographics of MLL students and included recent trends. The Town of Bluffton and the Town of Hilton Head issued a Proclamation for Smoke-Free and Vape-Free Awareness Month during November. The proclamation was accepted by members of LCAHY’s Youth Coalition, Teens for Healthy Youth, at the Bluffton Town Council Meeting and the Town of Hilton Head Council meeting on behalf of LCAHY. The LowCountry Alliance for Healthy Youth (LCAHY) and their youth coalition, Teens for Healthy Youth (THY), educated parents and caregivers about medicine safety and Rx Drop Box locations during the Town of Bluffton’s & Bluffton Police Department’s Safety Spooktacular Event. LowCountry Alliance for Healthy Youth (LCAHY) Civic Sector CIA and Bluffton Rotary SC member, Cara Vercellone, worked with Bluffton Rotary to post signage to discourage the sale of alcohol to minors during Bluffton’s Seafood, a community festival. Mayor Larry Toomer and Mayor Alan Perry issued a proclamation declaring October National Medicine Abuse Awareness Month in Bluffton and Hilton Head Island during the October Town Council Meetings.
