Towns of Bluffton and Hilton Head Issue National Medicine Abuse Awareness Month Proclamation

Mayor Larry Toomer and Mayor Alan Perry issued a proclamation declaring October National Medicine Abuse Awareness Month in Bluffton and Hilton Head Island during the October Town Council Meetings.  The Bluffton Proclamation was accepted on behalf of LowCountry Alliance for Healthy Youth (LCAHY) by two members of LCAHY’s Youth Coalition, Teens for Healthy Youth, during the Bluffton Town Council Meeting. The Towns and LCAHY have worked together on this initiative annually to create awareness of this important public health issue.  Accepting proclamations on national mental health observances at town council meetings is an activity in LCAHY’s 12-Month Action Plan under Strategy 7 Change/Modify Policies in the Seven Strategies of Community Level Change.
