May 2019

Teens for Healthy Youth (THY) partnered with the Animal Welfare Club to bring mental wellness to students at May River High School during Advanced Placement Testing. On three different days, THY escorted a puppy to May River HS and let the students love on the puppy right before they started their AP test and right after they finished their AP test. So many students commented on how nice it was to have the puppy there and stated that the puppy automatically calmed them. Many kids smiled when they were done testing! Teens for Healthy Youth is dedicated to promoting positive teen health. THY acknowledges teen stress as a major teen health issue and plans to develop more projects in the future to address teen stress. THY is the youth coalition and initiative of the LowCountry Alliance for Healthy Youth (LCAHY). THY’s mission to promote positive teen health. LCAHY is a recipient of the Drug Free Communities Grant.
