Teens for Healthy Youth (THY) members at Cross Schools participated in a school-wide Club Showcase, creating a meaningful opportunity to engage with students and families across grades 4 through 12. With enthusiasm and confidence, THY members shared the mission and vision of Teens for Healthy Youth. They emphasized empowering youth through peer-to-peer education.

Throughout the event, students took the lead in explaining the purpose and impact of THY, emphasizing the importance of youth voices in prevention efforts. They also highlighted the work and mission of the Lowcountry Coalition for Healthy Youth (LCAHY), helping to broaden awareness of the community-wide commitment to substance misuse prevention and healthy decision-making.

THY members actively engaged attendees by distributing Teens for Healthy Youth fact cards and deterra bags, providing both education and tangible resources to support healthy lifestyles. Their ability to connect with peers, younger students, and parents alike demonstrated the strength of peer-led outreach and the value of youth-driven initiatives.

In total, more than 250 students and parents were reached during the showcase. The event not only increased awareness of THY and LCAHY, but also sparked interest in future involvement, laying the groundwork for continued growth and impact.

Building the capacity of the coalition is a goal in LCAHY's 12 Month Action plan for the Drug-Free Communities grant program.
