During Alcohol Awareness Month and prom season Teens for Healthy Youth (THY) members educated their peers on the dangers and risks of teen alcohol use. THY members at May River High School created a bulletin board to encourage their peers to make healthy and safe decisions during prom. They also gave information to students about the risks of teen alcohol use with prom tickets. THY at Hilton Head High made a bulletin board to promote safe and sober driving among their peers. Hilton Head High THY also made posters to educate about the dangers of binge drinking and put them in the school bathrooms. They also created circles of alcohol facts to put into cups to give to students at their school. Peer-to-peer education on the dangers of teen alcohol use is an activity in LCAHY’s 12-Month Action Plan Under Strategy 1 Providing Information.

May River High School THY put together a “Drive Safe, Drive Sober” Bulletin board to display at the cross hallways in their schools.

Hilton Head Island High School THY made posters for school restrooms to educate on binge drinking. They made a bulletin board to display during prom to encourage students to drive safe and sober during prom and gave out cups with risks of drinking information.
