January 21-25, 2019

May River High School Teens for Healthy Youth (THY) students developed public service announcements (PSAs) to increase perception of harm and discourage use of e-cigarettes among their peers during National Drug Facts Week, January 21-25, 2019.

THY collaborated with the mayor, chief of police, school principal, and high school staff to produce public service announcements that included infographics on the dangerous effects of e-cigarettes. E-cigarettes were chosen because local and national trends show an increase of youth using e-cigarettes. The e-cigarettes PSA are available on the Bluffton SC Police Department website and on YouTube.

The easy access to these PSAs will allow these teens to get their message out across the community. THY is an initiative of LowCountry Alliance for Healthy Youth (LCAHY), a recipient of the Drug Free Communities Grant.
