THY Encourage Their Peers to take the Communities that Care Survey • 02/2020

In February and March, students in 7th, 9th, and 11th grade in Hilton Head and Bluffton will take the Communities That Care (CTC) Survey. The purpose of the survey is to collect data on prevalence of teen drug use, perception of risk of drugs, and approval of use of drugs. The LowCountry Alliance for Healthy Youth (LCAHY) uses the data to develop a comprehensive prevention plan to reduce teen use of drugs and alcohol. This data is reported to the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) as one of the requirements for the Drug Free Communities Grant (DFC). Teens for Healthy Youth, the youth coalition of LCAHY, encouraged their peers to take the survey by developing an informative video about the CTC survey. The youth hope their peer to peer message will increase youth participation in the survey.
