December 2019

Teens for Healthy Youth (THY) of Hilton Head Christian Academy (HHCA) provided hot chocolate, coffee, and soothing coloring pages to their peers between and after final exams. It was offered to high school students as a way for them to decompress and manage stress during exam time. Stress fact cards adapted from the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and produced by the LowCountry Alliance for Healthy Youth were provided to students. Students were encouraged to talk about stress and share healthy ways they deal with their stress and avoid unhealthy ways of dealing with stress, like using alcohol or drugs or withdrawing from friends and family. They enjoyed the opportunity to relax, destress, and take their minds off their exams
