The LowCountry Alliance for Healthy Youth Hosted Second Annual May Day 5K Race Fundraiser

The LowCountry Alliance for Healthy Youth (LCAHY) hosted its second annual May Day 5K Race/Walk. All community members, runners, walkers, strollers, and dogs were invited to register for this fundraiser. Over 100 runners participated in the race/walk. Medals were awarded to individuals at various age levels and dogs were awarded medals for first, second, and third place. The purpose of the May Day 5K race is to unite the community to promote positive choices and healthy lifestyles for our youth by racing for a healthier community. LCAHY and Teens for Healthy Youth (THY), LCAHY’s Youth Coalition, staffed information tables to create an awareness of LCAHY and THY. THY members served as course marshals on the race course. Through the LCAHY’s Community Board efforts, sponsors were solicited. LCAHY raised over $7,000. The May Day 5K Race is a component of LCAHY’s sustainability plan.
