The LowCountry Alliance for Healthy Youth (LCAHY) hosted an informational table at the Latin Music Festival family event in Bluffton, SC. A number of prevention resources were distributed including LCAHY’s Year-Round Rx Drop Box Location Fact Card, Medicine Safety Tips, E-cigarette Fact Card, South Carolina’s Underage Drinking Laws, and LCAHY and Teens for Healthy Youth (THY) informational brochures. Fact cards were available in English and Spanish. LCAHY’s Youth Coalition, Teens for Healthy Youth (THY), face painted during the event providing opportunities for parents to view the prevention resources. LCAHY’s 12 Month Action Plan includes reducing barriers of the Latino population to access prevention resources. This is a key population for LCAHY to target with prevention information as the Latino population has grown exponentially within the last 10 years. LCAHY plans to attend additional Latin community festivals to reach Hispanic families.
