Teens for Healthy Youth in Hilton Head and Bluffton area middle and high schools engaged their peers in Random Acts of Kindness Month. At Bluffton High School, Teens for Healthy Youth encouraged their peers, parents, and teachers/staff to purchase Kindness Cupid Candy Grams to send a positive message to friends, family, and colleagues during Random Acts of Kindness Month. They also displayed posters around the school from the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation. They also developed a Kindness Pledge from the template at Random Acts of Kindness.org, expressing that all students at Bluffton High would work together to make Kindness the Norm at Bluffton High all year long. THY made a video for the morning student news, prompting students to sign the pledge to have a dress down day, in which students could wear pink, purple, and red with jeans.  All students signed the pledge in their first block class. Bluffton High School was recognized by RandomActsofKindness.org as a distinguished kindness school for its efforts and will have its logo on the official website.

Teens For Healthy Youth at Bluffton Middle School (BLMS) promoted Random Acts of Kindness throughout the month of February. They made Post-it notes with positive messages to give to their peers. Examples of messages included “You Matter”, “You Are the Sunshine”, and THY BLMS led a Valentine’s Day Sale in which they sold carnations for a dollar. Students, teachers, and staff could purchase carnations for $1 and send a positive message with the carnation. THY BLMS sold 800 carnations during the Valentine’s Day sale.

Teens for Healthy Youth at Cross Schools encouraged everyone in the Cross Schools community to Make Kindness the Norm all year long. They also held a workshop for elementary school kids to paint rocks that had positive messages and inspiring Bible verses to promote kindness.

The THY club at Hilton Head Prep made compliment cards with motivational stickers attached and put them in the lockers of middle school students. The cards were filled with cheerful and supportive messages designed to spread kindness and inspire the recipient to do the same. The goal is to create a ripple effect of positivity around the school. THY Hilton Head Prep also became a Distinguished Kindness School.
