May River High School Teens for Health Youth (THY) promoted National Drug and Alcohol Facts Week via a video they developed for the morning school news show.  View the THY video

Here. The video included the School Resource Officer, School Nurse, and THY members.  The SRO pointed out that teens' use of drugs and alcohol causes poor decision-making and can lead to breaking the law and getting into legal trouble. He also noted the harm drugs and alcohol cause to the developing teen brain. Likewise, the school nurse noted that teen drug use leads to a decrease in appearance, financial issues, addiction, and possibly even death. Approximately 1,300 students and staff members were reached. Providing information on the risks of drugs and alcohol through peer-to-peer education is part of LCAHY’s 12-month action plan under Strategy 1, Providing information in the Seven Strategies of Community Level Change.
