The LowCountry Alliance for Healthy Youth (LCAHY) shared prevention resources during Bluffton High School’s Multilingual Learner Parent Night. Dr. Novince presented an overview of the coalition to the parents, and Mckencie Guerrero showcased LCAHY’s website and parent resources. To view the PPT presentation, click here.  LCAHY provided the attendees with packets that contained several of LCAHY’s Fact Cards including LCAHY’s Latino Stress Fact Card, A Dozen Ways to Manage Stress, Talk Early and Often To Youth Fact Card, Fentanyl One Pill Can Kill Fact Card, Impaired and Distracted Driving Fact Card, and LCAHY and THY’s Informational Brochures. Members of LCAHY’s Youth coalition, Teens for Healthy Youth (THY), gave a brief overview of the youth coalition and shared information about several of its upcoming projects. LCAHY plans to present to ML parents at other schools during the year and will also provide LCAHY’s Fact Card on the Effects of Drugs on Athletes during Bluffton High School’s Spring MLL parent night, which is soccer themed. Presenting to the Multilingual Learner Parent population is an activity in LCAHY’s 12-month Action plan under Strategy Four: Enhance Access/Reduce Barriers in the Seven Strategies of Community Level Change.

The MLP Parent Night was promoted in English and Spanish and encouraged parents and students to learn more about LCAHY’s resources. This was also shared in student news and in the BLHS Parent Letter.
