LowCountry Alliance for Healthy Youth Inducts Members Into Teens for Healthy Youth

LowCountry Alliance for Healthy Youth (LCAHY) held its annual youth coalition induction ceremony for Teens for Healthy Youth (THY). Bluffton High, Hilton Head High, May River High, and Hilton Head Christian Academy students were formally inducted during the event. Jim Berl, LCAHY’s Treasurer, did the welcome, and Pastor Lawson, Faith-based Sector CIA gave the invocation. Dr. Novice, LCAHY/THY Consultant and DFC Principal Investigator, introduced the mission and vision of the LCAHY. Laura Pirkey, Teens for Healthy Youth Coordinator, introduced the vision and mission of THY. Representatives from THY showcased projects and initiatives they worked on from August 2024 to November 2024. See the slide show here. The THY Advisors presented each THY member with an official induction certificate from LCAHY. Cheryl Rodriguez, the parent sector CIA, encouraged parents to take a brief survey to provide data to LCAHY. David Martin, long-time board member and CIA for the business sector applauded the youth coalition for their dedication to promoting positive teen health in their schools and communities through leadership, peer-to-peer education, community service, and advocacy. Teens for Healthy Youth Members greeted parents and guests and provided each family with a folder with LCAHY & THY’s Information brochure and the Talk Early and Often Fact Card.



Youth Serving Organizations Sector CIA & LCAHY Treasurer, Jim Berl, welcomed THY members, THY Advisors, parents, and community members to the THY Induction Ceremony.



Pastor Lawson, Faith-based Sector CIA & parent of a THY member, gave an invocation during the THY ceremony.



Dr. Novice, the preceptor for THY Summer interns & LCAHY/THY Consultant, introduced the Interns and briefly introduced several of their projects.



THY members from the various schools presented recent projects and initiatives THY has been working on to promote positive teen health in their schools and communities since school began in August.


Bluffton High School inducted over 30 members during the ceremony.
