LCAHY’s THY Interns Accept Town of Bluffton's National Medicine Abuse Awareness Month Proclamation

Mayor Larry Toomer and the Bluffton Town Council issued a proclamation declaring October National Medicine Abuse Awareness Month in Bluffton during the October Town Council Meeting.  The Proclamation was accepted on behalf of LowCountry Alliance for Healthy Youth (LCAHY) by LCAHY’s Teens for Healthy Youth Summer Interns, Sophia Blackwell and Juliette Blackwell. See the Proclamation below. Sophia on behalf of LCAHY thanked the Mayor and the Town of Bluffton for the disbursement of the opioid settlement funds to create the youth-to-youth social media PSAs. Juliette shared that LCAHY’s Year-Round Rx Drop Box Location Fact Card along with Deterra Bags were available for attendees after the Town Council Meeting. The Town of Bluffton and LCAHY have worked together on this initiative annually to create awareness of this important public health issue.  Accepting proclamations on national mental health observances at town council meetings is an activity in LCAHY’s 12-Month Action Plan under Strategy 7 Change/Modify Policies in the Seven Strategies of Community Level Change.
