LCAHY National Take Back Day • 04/27/2019

Saturday April 27th, 2019

The LowCountry Alliance for Healthy Youth (LCAHY), Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, and Beaufort Memorial Hospital partnered to promote and carryout DEA National Take Back Day. LCAHY developed a flyer that educated individuals on the importance of properly disposing of medication, provided a list of local year-round drop-off sites, gave step-by-step direction on proper home disposal, and promoted Take Back Day. Board members of LCAHY volunteered for three hours at take back locations and over one hundred citizens properly disposed of prescription drugs. Board members gave out a flyer produced by LCAHY that contained information on opioids, listed common prescription opioids, and questions to ask your health care provided about opioids. It also had Information on opioid misuse and help resources. LCAHY will be adding an additional drop off location this year and this collaborative event will be repeated annually.
