LowCountry Alliance for Healthy Youth’s (LCAHY) DFC Principal Investigator and DFC Project Coordinator met with the Beaufort County School District (BCSD) Bilingual Liaison for the Welcome Center to share information about LCAHY and their multilingual resources. BCSD’s Welcome Center for Multilingual Learners offers resources to multilingual learners and their parents, many of which are newcomers and part of the growing Hispanic community in Southern Beaufort County. LCAHY provided the Welcome Center with several information resources translated into Spanish. LCAHY plans to meet with Diane Dromsky, Director of Multilingual Services for BCSD, to follow up and discuss best practices for sharing LCAHY’s resources with the school district’s multilingual populations. Translating resources into Spanish to share with the growing Hispanic community is part of LCAHY’s 12-Month Action Plan under Strategy 4 Enhance Access and Reduce Barriers.
