LCAHY Applauds Teens for Healthy Youth During Annual Recognition Event

The LowCountry Alliance for Healthy Youth honored their youth coalition, Teens for Healthy Youth (THY), during LCAHY’s annual recognition event. About 40 Teens for Healthy Youth members and their families attended the celebration. LCAHY’s Youth Coordinator highlighted the accomplishments of six THY groups during the 2021-2022 school year. Several projects highlighted included: THY educating their peers on the myths and facts of alcohol and drugs during National Drug and Alcohol Facts Week; the launching of a new Instagram to promote total wellness and positive teen health; THY educating their peers on the dangers of impaired and distracted driving during prom; and projects addressing positive mental health with a focus on teen stress. Additionally, THY members were trained in the SPORT Prevention Plus Wellness Training that promotes total health and wellness including avoidance of alcohol and substances to be used in peer-to-peer education.
