LowCountry Alliance for Healthy Youth and their youth coalition staffed an information table during the Volunteers in Medicine (VIM) Latino Food Festival at Celebration Park, Hilton Head Island. LCAHY participated in the event to create awareness of the coalition and provide prevention resources in English and Spanish to the community. LCAHY and THY distributed LCAHY’s Year-Round Rx drop-off box locations Fact Card along with Deterra bags, LCAHY’s Latino Youth Stress Fact Card, and other prevention resources in English and Spanish to the attendees. LCAHY also gave out a complimentary mini olive oil bottle with a tag that had LCAHY’s website and logo. LCAHY held a raffle that attendees could enter to win a Core Pilates workout, donated by Core Pilates Hilton Head. They also had an opportunity to sign up to receive LCAHY E-News. LCAHY plans to take advantage of additional Latino community events to create awareness of the coalition and provide prevention resources. Providing prevention resources in Spanish at community events is an activity in LCAHY’s 12-Month Action Plan under Strategy 4 Enhance Access/Reduce Barriers.
