LCAHY Acceptance of National Prevention Week Proclamation from the Mayor of Bluffton • 05/14/2019

During a Bluffton Town Council Meeting, the mayor issued a proclamation at the request of the LowCountry Alliance for Healthy Youth. The proclamation acknowledge May as Mental Health Awareness Month and declared May 13th to May 17th National Prevention Week in the Town of Bluffton. LCAHY board member and Teens for Healthy Youth (THY) advisor at May River, Joy Nelson and THY Bluffton High youth representative, Audrey Weidner received the proclamation from the town. Audrey Weidner shared what THY members at Bluffton High were doing to promote National Suicide Prevention Day on May 17th, 2019 and Mrs. Nelson announced activities that took place at May River High School. Mayor Lisa Sulka plans to work closely with THY in the future to promote positive teen health in the community. Teens for Healthy Youth is an initiative of LCAHY whose vision is to unite the community to promoting positive choices for our youth.
