Hilton Head Island High School Teens for Healthy Youth Address Stress During Exam Week

Teens for Healthy Youth (THY) at Hilton Head Island High School addressed teen and teacher stress during final exams week. THY members are aware that the end of the school year and final exam time can create additional stressors for teens and their teachers. To help their peers and teachers address stress in positive ways they gave each student and teacher a stress ball and encouraged them to follow THY’s Instagram messaging for tips on reducing stress. Over 1,000 stress balls were distributed at Hilton Head Island High School. THY plans to address stress annually during May Mental Health and Substance Abuse Awareness month because stress can lead individuals to unhealthy coping mechanisms like drug or alcohol use. Teens for Healthy Youth is an initiative of the LowCountry Alliance for Healthy Youth.
