HHCA THY Engage Peers Safe Driving Workshop

January 6, 2022

Hilton Head Christian Academy (HHCA) Teens for Healthy Youth promoted a safe driving workshop that discouraged drunk, drugged, or distracted driving. The workshop consisted of a drunk and distracted driving simulator where each student got the opportunity to drive the simulated car. It moved as though an individual was under the influence or driving distracted. Students at HHCA also got to wear special goggles which impaired their eyesight as though under the influence of alcohol. Students attempted to walk in a straight line but many students were unsuccessful in this endeavor which opened numerous doors for discussion among the HHCA student body. THY hopes this concrete simulation will encourage youth to make good choices while driving and reject underage drinking. All THY members of Christian Academy were in attendance, as well as the rest of the Upper School students (grades 9-12).
