HHCA’s THY Second Annual Take Back Day Promotes Positive Choices • 11/01/2019

November 1, 2019

Hilton Head Christian Academy’s Teens for Healthy Youth completed its second annual service project, Candy Take Back, to collect Halloween candy and distribute a healthy snack in its place. Chris Brino and Annabel Court led the collection on November 1st, the day when students were asked to bring in their additional Halloween candy. The students who participated were able to select fruit or a granola bar, which was donated by David Martin, Low Country Alliance for Healthy Youth Board member and owner of Piggly Wiggly. The purpose of the event was to introduce the students to positive choices at a young age. Once students donated their candy, they received a raffle ticket to be entered in a drawing for HHCA gear, t-shirts, cups, and iTunes gift cards. Chris Brino, Isabelle Taylor, Caroline Yanker, and Abby Peduzzi had the fun task of delivering the raffle prizes! The activity was a big pull for HHCA’s Lower School students, though a few Middle School and Upper School students donated candy as well. The donated candy was then taken to a local dental office, Sea Smiles Pediatric Dentistry, for its annual Candy Bounce Back and the candy will be sent to the Armed Forces.
